Top Award For Godalming Opera Society

Godalming Operatic Society has been awarded a top award for one of its' major production's earlier this year.

The GOS has won the "Accolade of Excellence" for their district of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association. The award was in recognition of the Society's production of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Patience" earlier in the year. The award, presented by NODA Regional Representative Mrs Betty Haslam, was accepted on behalf of the society, by Chairman Hammy Sparks.

Hammy Sparks was joined at the event by Robin Wells, Musical Director, Pat O' Connell, Stage Director and other members of the society. After the ceremony Hammy explained that he was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the society and thanked those who had worked so hard to make this years production such a success. He also said how much everyone was looking forward to the 2012 production "The Pirates of Penzance" with the same winning team of Robin and Pat at the helm.

The society is keen to attract new members, both in performing and back stage roles. Rehearsals for "Pirates" commence on 19th September – more details can be found on the Society's website www.godalmingoperatic.org
