Godalming shoppers warned about purse thefts
The woman was out shopping in Godalming around 2pm on December 21, and was pushing her trolley to her car in the Waitrose car park when she was approached by two female suspects.
The suspects, who were both of Asian or Eastern European appearance, told the woman she had dropped some money and pointed to where she should look for it.
While the victim was distracted, thieves stole her bank card from her purse in the handbag which was on the shopping trolley. She later discovered £300 had been stolen from her account via a cash machine withdrawal. A further attempt to use her card was declined by a shop keeper who was suspicious of the pair.
Both women were aged between 40 and 50 years, were of stocky build, and about 5 ft 5 tall with black shoulder-length hair. They were wearing black clothing.
Anyone with any information should call Surrey Police on 101, quoting incident number P11377297, or, if you prefer not to leave your name, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
