Christmas Tree Recycling

Do you need to dispose of your Christmas tree? Find out how.
If you have a 'real' (rather than artificial) tree and you participate in the green bag garden waste scheme, you can recycle your Christmas tree in your first collection after Christmas.
Christmas trees can also be recycled seven days a week at Surrey County Council's Community Recycling Centres and on Saturdays from 8-11am in The Wharf car park (opposite Homebase) in Godalming.
Wrapping paper, as long as it does not contain foil, may be recycled in your kerbside box. The only exception is brown-backed paper which needs to be recycled in a cardboard recycling bank.
You could keep Christmas cards and reuse them as gift tags next Christmas (and save yourself some money at the same time). Otherwise, they can be recycled at Community Recycling Centres. Look out for shops that operate Christmas card recycling schemes.
More information about recycling, including lots of useful links is available on the Waste and Recycling section of the Waverley website.

I use my Christmas cards as gift tags - when I take the cards down I chose the one best suited for tags and cut them up and put them away with my excess wrapping paper for the followin year.
