It seems that the Godalming-based charity the World Wildlife Fund is delighted after the Government backed out of plans to sell-off many sites.
It could have seen the likes of Alice Holt fall into private hands.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman said she was taken aback by the level of public opposition: "I am sorry, we got this one wrong.
"If there is one clear message from this experience it is that people cherish their forests and woodlands and the benefits that they bring."
